River Where the Moon Rises first glance this February 2021!
River Where the Moon Rises is based on “Princess Pyeonggang,” a 2010 novel by screenwriter Choi Sa-gyu. It tells the story of the ambitious Princess Pyeonggang, who wants to become the first female Taewang or monarch of the Korean kingdom of Goguryeo. To achieve her goals, she uses the feelings of a pure-hearted man named On Dal, who risks everything to protect her. Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal will be played by Kim So-hyun (The Tale of Nokdu) and Ji Soo (When I Was the Most Beautiful), respectively.
KBS2’s upcoming historical drama River Where the Moon Rises has dropped exciting new stills featuring Kang Ha-neul and Kim So-hyun! The drama is all set to premiere on February 15.
On February 3, KBS2 dropped the first stills of Kang Ha-neul, who is set to make a cameo appearance in the show. Kang will play General On Hyeop, On Dal’s father, and lead the first part of the story. This marks Kang Ha-neul’s return to the small screen after 2019’s When the Camellia Blooms, for which he won Best Actor at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards.
In the stills, Kang is seen sporting a beard, long hair tied in a neat bun, and battle armor. He embodies his character as a military commander and highly respected head of the Sunnobu clan in Goguryeo. Kang is clad in battle armor because his clan is responsible for the defense of borders in the show. He shows a complete transformation as the aura of a reliable, warm-hearted clan leader and a ruthless border general surrounds him.
River Where the Moon Rises is directed by Yoon Sang-ho, known for works like Different Dreams (2019) and Kingmaker: The Change of Destiny (2020), while the script has been penned by Han Ji-hoon of the Woman of 9.9 Billion (2019) fame. It will premiere exclusively on Viu starting February 15, on the same day it will air domestically.
