Multitalented star Ok Taec-yeon and rising actress Kim Hye-yoon are officially teaming up in the new tvN historical series Royal Secret Agent and Jo-yi (working title) is confirmed!
Set in the 17th century Joseon, Royal Secret Agent and Jo-yi follows a brilliant but lazy royal inspector who has no ambitions in life and a liberated woman who dreams of getting a fresh start. In an unlikely alliance, they soon carry out an undercover investigation on a suspected conspiracy within the government.
The production team behind Royal Secret Agent and Jo-yi shared, “Ok Taec-yeon and Kim Hye-yoon will work together for the first time in conducting a delightful joint investigation in this drama. The fresh and pleasant chemistry between the two is among the focal points that we are looking forward to the most.”
Ok Taec-yeon has been roped in to play Ra Yi-eon, a first placer in the state exams who later becomes the kingdom’s youngest secret royal inspector. He is an attractive young man with a pair of languid eyes. The only problem with him is that he seems to have no plan for his future. A well-rounded entertainer, Ok previously displayed his acting skills as the protagonist in the dramas Bring It On, Ghost (2016), Save Me (2017), and The Game: Towards Zero (2020). Recently, however, he took on a new challenge by portraying the villain in tvN’s freshly concluded, black-comedy drama Vincenzo (2021).
Meanwhile, Kim Hye-yoon has joined the main cast as Kim Jo-yi, a fierce lady who is incredibly ahead of her years. In an era where women are not even included in family registries, Jo-yi believes in the concept of divorce and women independence. In 2018, Kim had her breakout role in the hit series SKY Castle, for which she won Best New Actress at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards. Her success immediately landed Kim a part in Extraordinary You (2019), her first lead role in a television drama. On top of the new project, the 24-year-old artist will also be starring in JTBC’s upcoming drama Snowdrop.
Spearheaded by director Yoo Jung-sun (Designated Survivor: 60 Days) and screenwriter Lee Jae-yoon (The Undateables), Royal Secret Agent and Jo-yi targets to air in the second half of 2021.
