Here is the main cast for JTBC’s upcoming series My Liberation Diary!

Kim Ji Won

On July 9, the cable network announced that actors Kim Ji-won, Lee Min-ki, Lee El, and Son Seok-koo have been confirmed for the starring roles in the new drama.

My Liberation Diary follows the story of three siblings who live in Sanpo Village and a mysterious man who suddenly appears in their small town as they struggle to escape their seemingly hopeless and frustrating lives.

When the Devil Calls Your Name (2019) actress Lee El has signed up to play Yeom Ki-jeong, the hot-tempered eldest child who thinks she has shed away her entire youth. She goes on long commutes every day to get to her job in Seoul and only tamps down her fiery personality during paydays. She lives her life full of complaints and is in a desperate search for love.

Lee Min-ki, who last graced the small screen in Oh! Master (2021), will play the middle child Yeom Chang-hee. Chang-hee wants to escape their family home in the village to get a taste of good life. While he has neither dreams nor drive and is often ignored by his family, he is someone who cannot be hated for he says the most logical things.

Set to portray the youngest of three siblings Yeom Mi-jeong is Lovestruck in the City (2020–2021) star Kim Ji-won. Being shy and timid has Mi-jeong looking at life as some kind of difficult homework. Even so, as she begins to feel empty and alone, she strives to change. One day, she crosses paths with the unusual Mr. Goo.

Rounding out the main cast is Son Seok-koo (Designated Survivor: 60 Days), who will essay the role of Mr. Goo, the mysterious outsider who ends up in Sanpo Village. Apart from being described as someone who smells of misfortune, he also reeks of alcohol as he gets drunk every single day.

The production team said, “[In My Liberation Diary], the stories of characters seeking new ways to free themselves from their [difficult] lives will provide [viewers with] special empathy. Please look forward to the synergy of actors who will portray [each of the] characters with [their own] charm.”

My Liberation Diary is slated for a 2022 release.
