Rising star Lee Re has joined the cast of tvN’s highly anticipated drama offering this year!
The drama’s main cast features Yoo Jae-myung (Vincenzo) as Choi Hyung-in, a homicide detective who is investigating a strange murder; Han Ye-ri (My Unfamiliar Family) as Jo Jung-hyun, a woman who has lived her life being branded as the family of a terrorist; and Uhm Tae-goo (Save Me 2) as Jo Kyung-ho, the said terrorist who released lethal sarin gas inside a train station but later turned himself him in and got sentenced to life imprisonment.
Korean media outlet Newsen revealed on July 27 that the 15-year-old actress will star in Hometown, a mystery-thriller that revolves around baffling incidents happening within a small rural town in the year 1999. Lee’s agency C-JeS Entertainment confirmed the casting news the same day.
Meanwhile, Lee Re has been roped in to play Jo Jae-young, Kyung-ho’s daughter and Jung-hyun’s niece. Jae-young is a bright and friendly teenage girl but because her father is a high-profile terrorist, she has been enduring harsh treatment from people around her, making her and her aunt Jung-hyun move into a remote village where not many know of their family background. When Jae-young suddenly disappears, her aunt begins a desperate search to find her.
After making her debut in the entertainment industry nine years ago, Lee Re has been impressing a lot of viewers for her outstanding screen portrayals. The popular film Hope (2013) as well as the television dramas Come Back Mister (2016), Start-Up (2020), and Hello, Me! (2021) are just some of the several notable works that she previously took part in.
Hometown is scheduled to premiere sometime in September.
