The filming will reportedly begin in August. Over-the-top (OTT) streaming platform Wavve has confirmed July 15 that Ju Ji-hoon and Han So-hee are all set to headline its upcoming original movie Gentleman.
Gentleman is described as a light-crime, comedy film that will follow Ji Hyun-soo (Ju Ji-hoon, Dark Figure of Crime), a private investigator who gets caught up in a huge case while trying to clear his name from a false murder charge. To prove his innocence within a week, he works with Kim Hwa-jin (Han So-hee), a prosecutor.
According to reports, Gentleman is slated to grace the big screen in May 2022. It will be made available on Wavve shortly after its theatrical release.
Original (July 7, 2021): Ju Ji-hoon, Han So-hee courted to star in new crime flick ‘Gentleman’
K-drama headliners Ju Ji-hoon and Han So-hee are currently in talks to star in the upcoming action-crime film Gentleman (literal title).
On July 6, Ju’s agency H& Entertainment revealed, “He has received a casting offer and is positively reviewing it.” Meanwhile, 9Ato Entertainment also announced on behalf of Han, “The movie is one of the works that Han So-hee is considering.”
Gentleman is said to depict what will happen when a person confronts the reality of a huge case of corruption. Ju Ji-hoon is being roped in to portray a private investigator who later becomes the primary suspect of a crime, whereas Han So-hee is being courted to play a distinguished prosecutor.
Ju Ji-hoon previously impressed viewers with his performances in the movies The Spy Gone North (2018), Dark Figure of Crime (2018), as well as in the hit big-screen franchise Along With the Gods (2017, 2018). Recently, he wrapped up filming for his upcoming drama Jiri Mountain (Cliffhanger), where he is acting alongside A-list actress Jun Ji-hyun. Han So-hee, on the other hand, is starring in the ongoing JTBC series Nevertheless. The drama shortly followed the record-breaking series The World of the Married (2020), where Han attained increased recognition for her performance.
If they both confirm their participation, Ju will have a new project lined up after his to-be-released movie Silence, while Han So-hee will be taking the first step toward her much-anticipated film debut.
Gentleman will be helmed by Kim Kyoung-won, director of the 2017 movie The Artist: Reborn. It is now in the pre-production phase and is scheduled to begin filming in August.
